The Ozarks tri-lakes region (Lake Taneycomo, Table Rock Lake, Lake of the Ozarks) plus the surrounding southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas economy is one of the more distinctive small-business mixes in the central United States. Tourism, lodging, retail, marina services, light manufacturing, agriculture, and professional services all coexist within a few hours' drive of Branson.

The three lakes, three economies

The NWA commercial base differs substantially — Bentonville is white-collar Walmart-vendor territory, Rogers is high-growth retail and franchise operations, Berryville is rural agriculture, Eureka Springs is tourism-heavy. The southwest Missouri spine

Springfield is the regional hub for white-collar professional services. Joplin is the I-44 logistics and retail anchor. Cassville, Monett, and Aurora form the agricultural/service belt. Each has its own pace.
